INFORMATION ON FUNDING
According to the Decision No. 11-66 of the Senate of Klaipėda University (hereinafter referred to as KU) of June 13, 2024, the activities of the Science and Studies Foundation are aimed at supporting the development of KU studies and science.

Eligible expenses
1. Publication in open access journals
The article has been published in the open access Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database journal (all sciences) or SCOPUS database journal (humanities and social sciences only).
Publication costs are paid according to the invoice issued to Klaipėda University. The maximum amount per grant is up to EUR 2,500, with up to EUR 1,200 for project publications. The amount of support is limited to the contribution of KU co-authors.
2. Funding for research and publishing services
1. International monographs published by publishing houses that have in the past been included in the list of prestigious foreign publishing houses approved by the Research Council of Lithuania
2. Monographs published by foreign or Lithuanian academic publishers (only for the humanities)
3. Article in CA WOS (all sciences) or SCOPUS (humanities and social sciences only) database journal
Reimbursed or paid:
1. The costs of preparing (excluding wages) and publishing the monograph. Maximum amount per grant up to EUR 2.500.
The costs of preparing CA WOS or SCOPUS scientific publication (travel expenses, preparation of missing analysis, translation service, etc.). Maximum amount per grant up to EUR 500 (in exceptional cases up to EUR 800).
The publication shall be submitted for peer review no later than one year after the approval of the application for funding. The same applicant may apply for funding once per year. Funding for the same publication is granted only once.
3. Preparation of applications for research and study projects
An application for research or study project and accompanying documents for external funding are prepared and sent for evaluation.
Funding is awarded to the educational staff member (project initiator(s) in ePOVAS) after the project application has been sent for evaluation.
The amount of funding depends on the status of the applicant, the funding program, and the success of the application:
EUR 400-800 for international projects where KU is the applicant;
EUR 200-400 for international projects where KU is a partner;
EUR 200-600 for national projects where KU is the applicant;
up to EUR 400 for national projects where KU QA is a partner.
4. Participation in training and refresher courses *
Replenished study and/or research competences by obtaining a supporting document.
Travel expenses * and/or training fee of an academic staff member of Klaipėda University are covered (according to the invoice issued to Klaipėda University). The maximum amount per grant is up to EUR 800. The call for funding is published twice a year (spring and autumn). Funding for an academic staff member is granted only once a year. Approval of the Head of Unit is required.
5. Participation in international scientific events
Oral presentation at a high-level international event, with direct participation. Participation in remote events is not funded.
Travel expenses and conference fee up to EUR 2,000 are covered.
6. Tools and methods for publicizing studies
Creation and/or acquisition of objects, prototypes, mind games for the presentation of studies at various events (open days, higher education exhibitions, etc.).
Experiential learning day projects for pupils in grades 9-12 (up to 5 days). Full-day thematic activities for pupils to deepen their knowledge in a specific subject (e.g., biology, physics, chemistry, psychology, etc.).
Funding is granted for the publicity of the studies through the payment of invoices (salaries are not funded) according to the cost estimates indicated in the application. The maximum amount per grant is up to EUR 1,000. The total amount to be awarded in this scope of funding is up to EUR 7,500.
7. Creative projects by students
Two types of applications can be submitted:
7.1 For faculty and student research resulting in publications in SCOPUS (social sciences or humanities) or CA Web of Science (technology, nature, medicine and health) database journals.
Minimum number of participants: 1 student (first- and second-cycle programs), 1 professor/researcher.
Maximum project duration: 1 year.
Applicant: KU professor or researcher.
7.2 For student activities in the development of innovative products, services, technologies, solutions, studies of regional interest.
Minimum number of participants: 2 students.
Maximum project duration: 1 year.
Potential project participants and applicants: professor/researcher/PhD student (project mentor), students in first- and second-cycle programs, pupils, external partner (company/institution/organization/association).
7.1 The grant is awarded as a scholarship to the student according to the cost estimate provided in the application (maximum amount of EUR 500) and as an incentive to the professor or the researcher upon confirmation of the acceptance of the journal for publication (EUR 500).
7.2 The grant will be awarded to the named student group according to the cost estimate provided in the application. The maximum amount per grant is up to EUR 2 500.
If the applicants are students, the supervising faculty member or project mentor shall be indicated.
